Radiology Technologist Position Summary
Performs all general radiography examinations, evaluates images for
technical quality, verify in PACS, complete work in RIS & is able
to answer patient, technologist and radiologist questions.
Radiology Technologist Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Must be able to go beyond duties in order to do what is best for
the patients and department.
Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging
procedures.
Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified
area of body requested by physician.
Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain
patient cooperation.
Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines
exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body
involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment
controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper
detail, density, and accuracy.
Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to
patient and staff.
Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology
procedures.
Performs Bone Density procedures (Dexa) when needed.
Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray
examinations.
Measures and mixes barium and contrast media.
Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality
control.
Demonstrates a commitment to "World Class Customer Service"
Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting
physician.
Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes
minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as
needed.
Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work
performed.
Must be flexible to work at multiple locations, Must be flexible to
work varied shifts.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two year college or
technical school
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
MRTBE (CRT)
ARRT (R)
CPR
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to talk, hear, smell and use hands, fingers and arms to
handle, feel and reach. This position is very active and requires
standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The
employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and on
occasion lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust
focus.
